This Italian family recipe is a favorite in our household. Serve alone or with fresh berries for a simple yet delicious dessert. 

Preheat oven to 300F


2 whole eggs
3 egg yolks

2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup butter
1 lemon – skin grated
2/3 cup flour
Pinch of salt
Powdered sugar
Grated hazelnuts, optional

Cream the butter and sugar. Then add the 2 whole eggs, beating well. Then add the 3 egg yolks, beating for a few minutes until till light and fluffy. Blend in the grated lemon skin. Combine the flour and salt in a separate bowl and blend into the batter. 

Bake for 30 minutes in a greased springform pan.  As soon as you remove the cake from the oven, sprinkle the powdered sugar and grated hazelnuts in a light layer on top.
