Fried Zucchini Flowers! One of my favorite things to eat in the summer is zucchini flowers. They’re extra special because they’re only in season from late spring to early fall and are so delicate yet delicious. With a simple batter you can cook these flowers in a matter of minutes. If you’ve never tried them, now is the time! Look for them at your local farmer’s market and try the recipe below. Enjoy!

Recipe:
12 zucchini flowers
1 pint or so sesame or vegetable oil
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
1/2 cup beer
2-3 tablespoons soda water, or as needed

Heat the oil in a saucepan. (When a drop of batter sizzles, it is ready)
Mix flour, yeast then add beer and water to make a smooth batter. If it seems too thick, add more soda water gradually. Don’t add to much or it will become runny.
Dip zucchini flowers into the batter one by one, coating them completely. Place them in the oil until lightly golden brown. Transfer them to a paper lined plate to soak up extra oil. Sprinkle with sea salt.

🍉 Watermelon Granita is super easy to make and delicious on a hot summer day. While in Italy an Italian friend taught me how to make a real granita. I was able to perfect my own recipe 😉 I think you’ll like it!! 🍧
Recipe:
1/2 watermelon cut into chunks and frozen
4 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
Blend frozen watermelon chunks with sugar and lemon juice and liquified.
Spread mixture into a large glass dish and place in freezer.
Stir mixture every 30 minutes for 2 hours until it’s frozen and flaky.
Enjoy! 😎🍉
